Vale is pictured holding the wooden flute he occasionally played during the band's earliest performances. The painted celestial panel visible at left was used in several early Astrolabe promotional sessions; its origin is undocumented.

Sebastian Vale is seen playing the wooden flute used during several early arrangements. At right, Dexter Mallory’s percussion setup includes a small suspended gong—an early example of the increasingly elaborate auxiliary percussion that would become a feature of later Humble Wizard tours.

The hand-painted celestial backdrops and modest stage rig show the first attempts at the visual language that would later define Humble Wizard’s touring productions. Sebastian Vale performs with a conventional microphone stand, years before the development of his later ceremonial stage apparatus.

The photograph captures the band before its individual stage identities had fully developed; much of Humble Wizard’s early visual presentation still drew from the shared vocabulary of late-1970s British rock, with only small hints of the more distinct ceremonial styles that followed.
